Breaker Keeps Tripping

A breaker that keeps tripping is protecting you from an overload, a short or a worn breaker. If your breaker box keeps tripping, we find the cause and complete the breaker tripping repair. We don’t just reset it and leave.

When a tripped breaker or circuit breaker won’t reset, the breaker, the wiring or a fault on the circuit may be failing. Don’t keep forcing it. Call us.

A burning wire smell, or a burning smell from your electrical panel or breaker panel, can point to overheating connections. A sparking breaker is just as serious. Treat it as urgent and call us right away.

An electrical panel that’s buzzing or humming can mean a loose connection or a failing breaker. We inspect it and handle the electrical panel repair.

Broken breaker, circuit breaker not working, a breaker box not working, or lost power to part of your home? We test the breaker and the circuit, then handle the breaker repair or panel repair.

Lights that flicker or dim when something turns on can point to a loose connection, an overloaded circuit or a failing breaker. We trace the cause and fix it.

After a power surge, we check your breakers, panel and affected circuits. We also install whole-home surge protection.

Worn, damaged or failed breakers replaced with the right type for your panel. We also install new breakers, so you only need one call.

Blowing fuses, a faulty panel, or one that’s simply outdated? We’ll look at your fuse box or breaker box and tell you whether fuse box repair, breaker box repair or a full replacement makes sense. Learn more about panel upgrades here.

A breaker keeps tripping because the circuit is overloaded, there’s a short circuit or ground fault, a connection is loose, or the breaker itself is worn out. Try unplugging what’s on that circuit. If the breaker still trips, call a licensed electrician to find the cause. A repeat trip is your system protecting you, not something to keep resetting.

Don’t force it. First push the breaker fully to “off”, then back to “on”. If it trips again right away or won’t stay on, the circuit has a fault or the breaker has failed. Leave it off and call a licensed electrician.

Yes, it can be. A burning smell from an electrical panel or breaker panel often means overheating or arcing. If you see smoke or flames, leave the home and call 911. If you only smell it, don’t touch the panel and call a licensed electrician right away.

A buzzing or humming electrical panel usually points to a loose connection, an overloaded circuit or a failing breaker. A loud or new buzz is a reason to have it checked. Our electricians inspect the panel, find the cause and make the repair.

Flickering or dimming lights can come from a loose connection, an overloaded circuit or a failing breaker. If it happens in one room, the problem is likely on that circuit. If it happens throughout the house, the panel or incoming service may be involved. Either way, an electrician can trace it.

We don’t recommend it. Panels contain live parts that can cause serious shock or fire even with the main breaker off. Replacing a breaker, or repairing a breaker box, should be done by a licensed breaker electrician.
